The Indian navy secretly dispatched warships to the South China Sea when military tensions erupted between New Delhi and Beijing after a deadly clash in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley on June 15. China has opposed the border dispute between the two countries.
China has opposed Indian naval warships in the region. In addition to creating artificial islands in the South China Sea since 2009, Beijing has increased its military presence there in several ways. Neighboring countries, including the United States, have objections. The United States has also stepped up its military presence in China to prevent “aggression.”
An official source told the ANI news agency that the Indian army had deployed one of its first warships to the South China Sea shortly after 20 soldiers were killed in the Galwan clashes. The Chinese army has opposed the military presence of other countries in the territory it claims as its territory.
Sources said that after India sent warships to the South China Sea, the Chinese navy and the country’s security forces inevitably moved. In response, China voiced its objection to the presence of warships in India during the ongoing bilateral diplomatic talks on the border dispute.
While patrolling the disputed South China Sea, where US destroyer frigates and warships are deployed, Indian warships regularly communicate with the US side safely, sources close to the Indian government told ANI.
Apart from this, as part of the regular exercises, the Indian warships keep the other countries patrolling there always informed about their position. The sources further said that the Indian Navy conducted the exercise with the utmost secrecy so that no one could understand the activities of the Navy.
