A 22-year-old Dalit girl died after being gang-raped and tortured in Balrampur on Tuesday night while being taken to a hospital in Lucknow, 150 kilometers away, with serious injuries, Indian media reported.
Police said two defendants in the incident have already been arrested.
According to the daily Anandabazar, the Dalit girl worked in a private company. I left home in the morning to go to work. Her family complained to the police that she did not return after the night and they could not reach her on her mobile phone.
His mother alleged that he was kidnapped on his way to work. Later in the evening, they saw the girl return home in a rickshaw.
Multiple sources told NDTV that the kidnappers sent him home in an electric rickshaw.
“These people injected something into his body and he lost consciousness. Then they raped her. Then you break your leg, you break your back. A rickshaw shooter brought him home. So my daughter can’t stand or speak, ”her mother said through tears.
“My daughter said, ‘Save me, I don’t want to die,'” she said.
He was rushed to a local hospital. But since his condition was critical, doctors advised him to take him to a hospital in Lucknow, but he died on the way.
The autopsy report confirmed the rape. The young woman was also found to have multiple injuries to her body, but her legs and back were not mentioned, police said.
However, he had a glucose syringe in his hand, said police officer Dev Rajan Verma.
Police reportedly buried the body on Wednesday after turning it over to relatives.
The leader of the opposition Samajwadi Party and former Minister of State Akhilesh Yadav has harshly criticized the administration of the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh after another gang rape and torture-related death in Hathras was reported.
The Yogi government and Uttar Pradesh police have also come under strong criticism from opposition politicians over the Hathras incident.
The NCRB report states that the incidence of rape of children and women is increasing in India. The report says that an average of six rapes occur every day in the country.
