The ruling party Awami League has called a meeting of the Local Government Representatives Nominating Board to finalize the party’s candidate for mayor in 64 municipalities in the third phase. The meeting will be held at 4 pm on Saturday (December 26) at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Ganobhaban. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, President of the Awami League and President of the Nominating Board of People’s Representatives of the Local Government.
The information was given in a press release signed by Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua on Friday afternoon. Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the party, urged all concerned to attend the meeting in a timely manner following health regulations.
The third phase of 64 municipal elections will take place on January 30. The last date for the submission of nomination papers in these municipalities is December 31. The election will be held from 8 am to 4 pm. Voting will be by ballot in each center. The nomination works will be selected on January 3 of next year. Withdrawal of candidacy on January 10.

It should be noted that according to the EC schedule, the first phase of elections will be held on December 28. At this time 25 municipalities will be chosen. In the second phase, voting will take place in 61 municipalities on January 18. Out of 61 municipalities, voting will take place in 29 municipalities in EVM and in 32 municipalities by voting.
