Commenting that a new government will come in the new year, BNP Vice President Shamsuzzaman Dudu said: “In the new year, we have two prime ministers in a row, Begum Khaleda Zia and Tareq Rahman.”
He made the remarks at a discussion on the occasion of the ‘Fall of Autocracy and Liberation of Democracy’ organized by Daksu and the All-Party Student Unity Council of the 90s in the auditorium of the National Press Club on Sunday (6 from December).
Shamsuzzaman Dudu said: “The democracy and independence achieved in the liberation war of 1971. Who has destroyed this democracy, freedom? If we come to introspection as a nation, then you will see that the students and heroic people of this country achieved independence and democracy. But later, a political party and its leaders established a one-party government and destroyed democracy and freedom. Through the massive uprising of the 1990s, the nation restored democracy. Who destroyed it? If I ask this question, the name to come will be those in power today (Awami League).
The BNP leader said, the day is coming. These will not exist. Those who are in power today. The police, the army, the judiciary, the administration, some journalists are ready today to sing for her (Sheikh Hasina). But jobs are also needed. People are unemployed, they don’t eat. There is no product in the country whose price is not three to five times higher. My peasant society, working people are in terrible trouble. The country is going through such a situation.
Addressing the Prime Minister, he said: “Why are Begum Khaleda Zia and our acting President Tareq Rahman so afraid?” The leader of our country, Begum Khaleda Zia, has been jailed. Your home is also a prison. Why don’t you let Tareq Rahman come? He is the eldest son of the herald of independence. If you (Sheikh Hasina) have become prime minister, then after Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman will also become prime minister.
Former Daksh Aman Vice Chairman Ullah Aman chaired the debate and was also present at the meeting.
