A group of local youths have sexually abused a housewife in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. They captured the video undressing the woman. The incident took place at Pavilion No. 9 of the Eklashpur Union of the Upazila on September 2.
The matter came to light on Sunday (October 4), 32 days after the incident. Police arrested a young man named Rahim involved in the incident after the video went viral on social media, including Facebook, since this morning.
According to local sources, the victim’s housewife was married three years ago. The husband left her, remarried, and lived elsewhere. She had no contact with her husband for a long time. On the night of September 2, her husband came to see her. When the drug lord found out about the local Delwar, it was run by Rahim, Badal,
Kalam and her accomplices allegedly tortured the housewife together with her husband. At one point, they recorded a video of the woman stripping.
The video was released on various social media, including Facebook, on Sunday (October 4) morning, 32 days after the incident. After watching the one minute and 23 second video, many people condemn on social media and demand exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
The father of the victim’s housewife said, “I am an innocent man.” I do not dare to speak for fear of terrorists. I just want justice from God.
Acting President of Eklashpur Union Parishad Firoz Alam Bhuiyan demanded the arrest of those involved in the heinous incident.
Noakhali Super Md Police Alamgir Hossain said that no one involved in the incident of torturing the housewife will be released. Five units of the district police are working on the ground to arrest the accused and provide legal assistance to the victim’s family. One person has been arrested in the incident.
