The mystery of the murder of schoolgirl Sharmin Akhter Kakli in Matlab north of Chandpur has been revealed.
Kakli was brutally murdered by her ex and current boyfriend, said Matlab Uttar Police Station OC Md Nasim Uddin Mridha.
He said that Saifuddin, Kakli’s ex-boyfriend and classmate, had been cheated and it was feared that the new boyfriend had been cheated.
Saifuddin confessed to being the mastermind of the murder and described the tragic incident during police questioning.
Saiful said that on the morning of March 26, she called Sharmin Akhter Kakli from her home on her mobile phone. Under previous plans, Kakli’s new boyfriend was already in Oxford Kindergarten. Responding to Saifuddin’s call, Kakli went to the scene and they both killed Kakli, beheaded him, and threw him into an abandoned pond about 200 feet away. After the murder, Saifuddin stayed at his home in the Sujatpur village. On Wednesday, 26 days after the murder, Saifuddin took refuge in his grandfather’s house in a nearby town after learning that the police had recovered Kakli’s headless body.
OC Nasim Uddin Mridha said Saifuddin was arrested based on Kakli’s mobile phone call list and according to information provided by him, Kakli’s severed head and knife used in the murder were recovered. Police are still trying to find Kakli’s new boyfriend involved in the murder.
It is worth mentioning that Kakli disappeared on March 26. On March 29, her mother Rokeya Begum filed a GD with the police. Later on April 22, police recovered a decayed half-decapitated body from a room in the Oxford kindergarten near Sujatpur Bazar.
According to local sources, Saifuddin, the son of Russell Ahmed, from the neighboring village of Sujatpur, first fell in love with Sharmin Akter Kakli, the eldest daughter of Bazlu Bepari, an expat from the village of Matlab North East. A few months ago, another teenager who worked as a bricklayer in the area had a new relationship with Kakli. Predicting the matter, Saifuddin became friends with the teenager. After that, the two of them killed Kakli together.
