Another storm of unrest over India with Pakistan. The controversy over Pak-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan has started anew. Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday declared Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistani-occupied Kashmir a special province, despite hundreds of protests from India and outside the country. According to experts, the decision of the Imran Khan government was made under pressure from the Pak army and China.
It was already known that Pakistan was going to grant the status of a special province to occupied Gilgit-Baltistan. As soon as the news reached New Delhi, the Indian Foreign Minister vehemently opposed the decision. But it is clear from today’s decision that Islamabad did not feel the need to listen.
On Sunday, Pakistan declared the Pakistani-occupied Indian territory Gilgit-Baltistan as a new province. In announcing that decision, Imran Khan went to Gilgit-Baltistan and laid the foundation stone for various projects such as the thermal power plant and the river dam. On the scene of the inauguration ceremony, anti-India words were heard on the face of the Pakistani Prime Minister.
The foreign minister reacted strongly to the news of declaring the Indian territory Gilgit-Baltistan as the fifth province of the country. Anurag Srivastava, a spokesman for the Indian foreign minister, said that Pakistan had violated the agreement. Under the 1947 agreement, Gilgit-Baltistan is part of India’s Jammu and Kashmir and the agreement also makes it clear that it has no right to change the occupied territory.
“Let the whole world see how Pakistan has violated human rights for 70 years,” said a spokesman for the foreign minister.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, who once again proved Gilgit-Baltistan to be a province by breaking the deal despite India’s objections, is in fact a puppet in the hands of the Pakistani army.
It should be noted that China has several mines in that region of Pakistan. It goes without saying that China has a special role to play in this decision.
