Your phone will turn off the key
According to BTRC and mobile operator sources, the country’s network now has many mobile phones, which are fake. There are also phones brought into the country illegally. The phone you use may be brought from abroad by a relative.
BTRC officials say that network cell phones purchased before August 2019 will not be turned off. A final decision has yet to be made on the issue of illegal phones purchased after August. In this case, you may be given the opportunity to register.
According to the minutes of a BTRC meeting on July 9 on the introduction of NEIR, the operators raised the issue of keeping illegal mobile phones running. Later in the meeting it was decided that after the introduction of NEIR, the government will make a decision on the matter and instructions will be issued.
However, in January 2019 a database was launched to verify whether mobile phones were legally imported or manufactured in the country. Customers had the opportunity to identify valid or invalid mobile phones by sending text messages. BTRC created this database with the help of the Bangladesh Mobile Importers Association (BMPIA). Since then, the BTRC has issued notices on several occasions, saying that when buying a mobile phone, it should be verified whether it is of legal import.
