However, he was unable to give a clear idea of who arrested him due to some news. The journalist added that those who arrested him wanted to teach other journalists as well.
Golam Golam Sarwar, who works today in the Chittagong bureau of the weekly Suryoday, is the executive editor of an Internet newspaper called Citynewsbd.
Siddiqui, the head of today’s Sunrise Chittagong bureau, filed a general diary at the Chittagong Kotwali police station last Thursday stating that Sarwar was missing.
Later, the Chittagong Union of Journalists also joined the protest.
Four days later, on Sunday night, locals found Sarwar unconscious by the side of the road in the Kumira area of Sitakunda upazila and reported to the police.
The police rescued him from there and admitted him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. He is still in the hospital.
A video of Sarwar’s rescue was shared on social media, urging him to “please don’t hit me, I won’t give any more news.”
Golam Sarwar
Sarwar told bdnews24.com that they took him to an unknown location and beat him with wooden planks and belts.
“They beat me for two out of every four days. ‘Will I make more news or not?’ Also, they keep saying: you have no security, what can you do? “
When asked what the news was, Sarwar said he did not know.
Although he did not know the identity, the attackers seemed “trained” to him.
Sarwar said that the people who were in the room at the time of the beating were talking on mobile phones with someone outside, calling them “sir.”
“They would say, ‘Lord, should I keep it or should I throw it away? From the other end, he said: “You don’t have to throw it away, you need to threaten others with the wire. Why should that ‘journalist from Tenafada’ kill him?” That is why it has been flying more. “
Although Sarwar has not been available since Thursday at Jobay’s Siddiqui GD, Sarwar said he was arrested Wednesday night.
Sarwar said he left his home in the city’s Battery Alley around 12 p.m. Wednesday to go home to Chandnaish Upazila. To catch the bus, Shah got on a motorcycle rented for 100 rupees to go to the Amanat Bridge area. There another man got up and knocked him unconscious.
“Another man got up from behind on his way to the motorcycle. I was knocked unconscious after being involved with something. They took me somewhere on a motorcycle in another ambulance. “
Sarwar said they took him to a house and beat him blindfolded.
He said there were four people in the house where he was detained. One of them spoke the Chittagong regional language and the others spoke pure Bengali.
He also said that he heard the sound of a train from a locked room.
The Chittagong Union of Journalists held a sit-in on Sunday demanding the search for journalist Golam Sarwar.
Kotwali Police Station OC Mohammad Mohsin told bdnews24.com on Monday afternoon that Sarwar had given some information while searching for the vehicle.
“It was not possible to talk to him much. We are going back to the hospital to talk. Anything he says will be investigated. We start work. A case will be filed on behalf of Sarwar’s family after removing the previous general diary.”
Meanwhile, doctors from the medical department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital have formed a board for Sarwar’s treatment.
Said the head of the board. When contacted, Abdur Sattar did not speak on the matter under the pretext of being busy.
A board member, who did not want to be named, said Sarwar’s condition was stable. Blood pressure is also normal. It will check if there is any internal injury.

Not an isolated incident: TIB
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has demanded disclosure of the “real secret” of the disappearance of Chittagong-based journalist Golam Sarwar.
Although they were relieved to find Sarwar, they refused to accept that picking him up and torturing him was an isolated incident.
The agency said Golam Sarwar’s kidnapping was another threat to independent journalism.
In a statement, TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman said: “The disappearance of journalist Golam Sarwar and his discovery after torture is not an isolated incident.
“Rather, it is just a cruel continuation of the ongoing threats, intimidation and torture in the voice of free journalism and independent media. Golam Sarwar’s screams seem to reflect the general state of the media.”
Iftekharuzzaman said: “Although there have been cases of torture of journalists at regular intervals and attacks on media control, there has been a shortage of appropriate punishments through strict legal measures, which has long concerned us.”
“It would not be an exaggeration to say that the government’s repeated rhetoric about free media and independent journalism is just a ‘political formality’!”
The TIB feels that incidents of assault, torture and even kidnapping of journalists are not taken seriously by the government and law enforcement agencies.
