Protests have been raging across the country for the past few weeks in protest at recent sexual harassment in different parts of the country, including torture in Noakhali and rape at MC College in Sylhet.
The government has already taken steps to amend the law to increase the maximum death penalty for rape in response to demands from various student and rights groups, to be raised at a cabinet meeting on Monday, the law minister said, Anisul Haque.

“Some cases there may have been closed due to a review. I will try to find and activate them. And I will try to resolve the appeals by listening to them. “
When asked what he thinks is the biggest challenge facing the judiciary as the state’s legal director, Amin Uddin said: “The biggest challenge is to reduce litigation. There are many cases left in our country, many cases are tangled. Reduce this mess. it is my main challenge in the judiciary. “
He said that the virtual court of the Appeals Division has resolved about 4,000 cases. Old cases are treated there on a priority basis.
“As Attorney General and as President of the Bar Association, I would ask the Honorable Chief Justice to give special instructions to the courts to resolve old cases that are also pending in the High Court.
“In addition, I will try to contact the prosecutors of different districts. Take the initiative of a rapid hearing of pending cases.”
Mahbubey Alam, who has been the Attorney General since 2009, died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on September 27.
On October 8, the government appointed AM Amin Uddin, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, as the highest legal official in the country.
Amin Uddin has worked as a lawyer in the Supreme Court for three decades. At one point he was also the Deputy Attorney General.

Amin Uddin, Moulvibazar’s son, was born on October 1, 1983. He passed the HSC from Dhaka City College. After graduating from Dhaka College, he did an LLB from Central Law College in 1972.
Amin Uddin registered as a lawyer in 1986. He was registered as a lawyer in the Superior Court Chamber of the Supreme Court on October 26, 1989 and in the Appeals Chamber in 2003.
Amin Uddin, who was appointed a senior counsel to the Supreme Court in 2015, was also president of the Supreme Court Bar Association for the 2019-2020 term. This time he has been re-elected and is serving his second term.
