According to the details of the case, on the night of February 8, 2014, a resident of the Iranian camp in Block B of Pallabi Section 11, Md. Billal, had a gaehaludera ceremony. Police source Sumon treated the women indecently on the occasion. Ishtiaq and his brother Imtiaz, who were there at the time, were told to leave. The two brothers argued with Sumon over this. Imtiaz filed a case in the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court of Judges on August 7, 2014 under the Torture and Death in Custody (Prevention) Act. Pallabi (OC) Police Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman, SI Zahidur Rahman, Abdul Baten, Rashed, Shovon Kumar Saha and Constable Nazrul and sources Sumon and Russell were charged in the case.
The court ordered a judicial investigation into the case. The report was delivered on February 17, 2015 after the judicial investigation. The report recommended the release of five defendants and five others. During the investigation, ASI Rashedul and Kamruzzaman were included as defendants. On April 17, 2016, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court of Judges brought charges against the five defendants. The court ruled yesterday after more than four years of trial. The fact that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law has been established through this verdict, state prosecutor Abdullah Abu told reporters.
