SI Akbar Police Accused of Killing Raihan

The Benapole Immigration and Borders Alert was issued to prevent Deputy Police Inspector (SI) Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, accused of torturing and killing Raihan Ahmed at the Bandarbazar police post in Sylhet, from leaving the country. Police and BGB officials on duty at the border confirmed Benapole’s immigration and additional security at the border on Friday morning.

It is known that as the communication system is easy and the border area is wide, there is the possibility of fleeing to India this way. To this end, the immigration police and border guard BGB together with other borders of the country have taken precautions.

Benapole’s Immigration Officer in Charge (CO), Ahsan Habib, confirmed the matter. He said: “A message has reached Benapole Immigration prohibiting SI Akbar from leaving the country. Everyone has been asked to be vigilant so that he does not flee to India in any way.

Subedar Mizanur Rahman, commander of the Benapole company of Jessore 49 BGB battalion, said they were working cautiously to prevent all kinds of illegal infiltrations. Upon receiving such news, duty bearers at the border have been asked to be more careful.

Despite the current Corona situation, Bangladeshis are known to enter India through the Benapole land port on various types of visas, including medical visas, and Bangladeshis who remain in India are returning to the country.

It is worth mentioning that SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, the manager of the outpost of the Kotwali Police Station in Sylhet, detained a young man named Raihan and tortured him to demand extortion. He died the next morning. During the torture, a policeman called Raihan’s family from his mobile phone and demanded money. Relatives went to the hospital from the outpost in the morning and identified Raihan’s body.

At the beginning of the incident, the outpost policemen spread rumors that Raihan was killed in a massive beating in the Kastghar area of the city on suspicion of robbery. But no such scene was seen on the closed circuit (CC) camera installed by the local councilor where the police called the scene a massive beating. Police torture is suspected.
