Critics point the finger at Pakistan when it comes to fixing matches. However, Pakistan’s former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar hated hearing such notoriety in the country. Despite accusations of match-fixing against several Pakistani cricketers, the Rawalpindi Express claims that no such offer was made at the time. Shoaib claimed that if Captain Wasim Akram had offered him a match in his time, he would not have hesitated to kill Akram.
In an interview with Pakistan Cricket, Shoaib said: “If Wasim Akram had offered me a beating, I would have killed him or killed him. Wasim Bhai never made such an offer to me.
Shoaib has played 46 tests and 173 ODI for Pakistan. In his time Akram was the captain of Pakistan. Praising the former captain, Shoaib said: “I have seen several matches against Pakistan in the 1990s. In those matches, Wasim Bhai bowled brilliantly and brought Pakistan out of a bad situation.”
Earlier in his career, Akram kept Shoaib at bay. Explaining the good old days, Shoaib said: “I played with Wasim Bhai for seven or eight years. Wasim Bhai used to relieve me with the opposition’s top-tier wickets. He used me in such a way that I was able to collect the finalists’ wickets without any pressure.
