Simin Hossain, CEO and CEO of SKF Pharmaceuticals Limited, the country’s leading pharmaceutical company, said this in an interview with The Daily Star after completing production of the effective remedy drug against coronavirus.

When will you decide to produce a corona medicine?
Simin Hossain: We decided this in mid-March. Since it was an injection, it was very sensitive. The steps are very complicated. I have contacted raw material suppliers. We decided to go into production as soon as we receive the raw material.
Previously, it was reported that he was also trying to produce the Japanese drug Avigan. Is there any news on that?
Simin Hossain: We also have all kinds of preparations for the Avigan production. If approved, we can take it to the market at any time.
There is a discussion among people about the price of remedicivir. What will the price be?
Simin Hossain: The price can be around five to six thousand rupees. There are two types of doses: five days and 10 days. A 10 day dose can cost around Rs 55,000 and a 5 day dose can cost around Rs 30,000.
Do you produce drugs, receive or receive responses from hospitals or government agencies?
Simin Hossain: Many have contacted us. Many hospitals in the country still have dying crown patients. Doctors want to use this medicine for them. They are communicating with us repeatedly. But we cannot give it to anyone without government approval.
When can you take it to the market?
Simin Hossain: All of our preparations have been completed. Now the job of the drug administration. We hope to be able to supply it to the market starting next week if they approve it.
Is this drug readily available across the country?
Simin Hossain: I am saying this again that we cannot give it to anyone without permission from the Drug Administration. If approved, we can deliver it in no time. Of course, we produce medicines for all people in the country.
Will SKF really produce corona or other drugs in the future?
Simin Hossain: We will try to produce all the medicines that come from Corona for the people of the country. Not only trade, we want to be next to the people.
