Former Vice President (VP) of Dhaka University (DU) Student Parliament Nurul Haque Nur has announced that he will not break his fast until all six defendants, including Hassan Al Mamun, the convenor of the Student Rights Council (temporarily released) and four others are arrested. The victim is a student.

The Islamic Studies student went on a hunger strike at the foot of the Raju sculpture at Dhaka University on October 8 at 8:30 pm. From day one, the university administration has deployed police to provide security.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka Detective Police arrested two defendants in the case. The arrested defendants are the joint coordinators of the Council on Student Rights. Saiful Islam and Nazmul Huda, vice president of the DU branch.

When asked, the student said: “I will not break my fast until the six defendants are arrested.”

An investigative committee of the Council on Student Rights has been formed on the basis of the allegations. After 17 days, the committee released the investigation report on Sunday. The report found no evidence of violation, said Bin Yamin Mollav, chair of the committee and chairman of the DU Council on Student Rights. When asked about the report, the student expressed mistrust in the investigation committee, saying, “Before forming the committee’s main investigative committee, he said on the human network show that my ‘rape case’ was false.” So how is it possible to have an impartial investigation with him? “

When asked about this, Bin Yamin Mollah, head of the investigation committee and chairman of the DU Student Rights Council, told the Bengali Tribune: “I have not commented on the matter since the committee was formed. We have tried to investigate one Charge as serious as a violation based on fairness and evidence We have contacted the plaintiff to obtain evidence But he did not cooperate with our information and evidence

When asked about the investigation committee’s lack of cooperation, the complainant said: ‘I have delivered the medical report to the police station. I didn’t testify because I didn’t trust them.

Regarding the motion of no confidence, Bin Yamin Mollah said: “He did not cooperate with the committee by providing evidence. He said, why present evidence to the Student Rights Council? So our question is why has he brought a case against the Council on student rights without bringing personal accusations against those against whom you have made rape allegations?

It is worth mentioning that a DU student filed a case at the Lalbagh Police Station on the night of September 20 alleging rape and cooperation in rape. Six people, including former Vice President Daksh Nurul Haque Nur and Student Rights Council coordinator Hasan Al Mamun, were charged in the case. Later, the student filed another case at the Kotwali Police Station.
