Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced plans to build warships at her own shipyard in the future.

On Wednesday (December 30) he spoke at the Navy 2018 Alpha and DEO 2020 Bravo Batch Winter Presidential Parade in Chittagong BNA.

The Prime Minister participated in the event in a video conference from Ganobhaban.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: “After we came to power, the Khulna Shipyard handed it over to the Navy.” It was then that I came to the government for the first time. Our shipyards in Chittagong and Narayanganj, we deliver them to the Navy. The goal is to build our own warships in our own shipyards. We have already started working. Also, we are building a submarine base in Pekua at Cox’s Bazar.

Highlighting various government initiatives to build a strong navy, the prime minister said: “We have already added a total of 26 warships to the navy to strengthen it.” In 2016, we added two next-generation submarines to the fleet. As a result, we have been able to transform the Bangladesh Navy into a full-fledged three-dimensional force.

‘We have done everything in the Navy, starting with aviation systems. In addition, we built the “Bangabandhu Complex” to further enhance our training. We have built flats to solve the housing problem of the members of the Navy. ‘

Mentioning that Bangladesh doesn’t want war, it wants peace, the three-time prime minister said, “Our goal is always for our country to be an independent country.” I will walk with my head held high in the world court. We will make all preparations to defend our independence and sovereignty. But not war with anyone, friendship with everyone, not enmity with anyone: this is the foreign policy that we will follow.

‘We want peace, not war. But to protect the independence and sovereignty of our country, there must be all kinds of initiatives and training. This is how we are building each of our forces. ‘

Citing a speech given by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu on the occasion of Navy Day on December 10, 1974, Sheikh Hasina said: “The Father of the Nation said: ‘A nation that cannot respect itself, cannot maintain your dignity, you can never grow in the world. That is why today we, as a self-respecting nation, want to live with respect for ourselves. We do not want to interfere in anyone else’s affairs. We will not tolerate anyone else interfere in our affairs. We believe in this principle. ‘

He called on the new officers to comply with the instructions of the Father of the Nation. Our new officers will follow the example of the father of the nation. He gave everything for the nation.

Speaking of the government’s initiative to advance the country’s economy using marine resources, Sheikh Hasina said: “We are working with the goal of using our vast marine resources for our own economic development.”

Highlighting the various activities of the government to ensure housing for everyone in the country, Bangabandhu Kanya said: “Our promise in the Mujib Year is that no one will be left homeless in the country.” Not a single person will be left homeless in the year of Mujib.

He mentioned various measures taken by the government to extend the city’s facilities to rural areas as well.
