Beximco Dhaka captain Mushfiqur Rahim apologized for questioning his teammate Nasum Ahmed in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup knockout match.

Mushfiqur was seen behaving very emotionally with his teammates in the ‘Do or Die’ match against Fortune Barisal on Monday. Losing his temper, the seasoned member of the national team raised his hand twice to hit spinner Nasum.

The first incident took place in Barisal’s thirteenth innings. Afif Hossain landed two sixes to Nasum on that change. That’s the annoying pressure on the eyes. Afif took the single by pushing the ball to midwicket on the next ball. He then went to pick up the ball and prepared to hit the ball into Nasum’s hand.

In the 16th end of the innings. Mushfiqur went to take Afif’s catch on Shafiqul’s short thin ball leg and Nasum ran with him too. Mushfiqur took the catch, turned around with the catch as if killing Nasum.

Surprised by the captain’s behavior, Nasum put his hand on Mushfiqur’s shoulder and tried to normalize the situation, Mushfiqur also agreed.

Discussions and criticism began through the media and social networks focused on these two incidents. Mushfiqur, 33, later apologized.

He posted a photo of Masum on Facebook Tuesday morning.

Mushfiqur wrote: ‘Assalamu Alaikum. I formally apologize to my fans for the adverse incident during yesterday’s match. I apologized to my teammate Nasum after the game. I have also asked Almighty God for forgiveness. I always remember that I am a man above all else. My behavior was not acceptable at all. I promise, inshallah, this will not happen again in the field or outside. JazakAllah eats. / RT
