Producer Rana Vartaman has been arrested in a case of making an obscene web series on behalf of a short film. Model and actress Sonia Wahid Zara filed a case against Rana for posting a pornographic scene on YouTube despite the actor’s objections to the web series ‘Pain in the Chest’.
“First they told me it was a short film,” said Zara. They didn’t tell me it was a web series. In addition, photos were taken of some scenes that I was not informed of. I later found out that this is a 18+ web series. Contains some pornographic scenes. Then I ask Rana not to take the scene. But Rana told me that ‘there would be no view without such a scene’. What Rana has done is wrong. She released it on YouTube despite the fact that I prohibited her from leaving the content with this porn scene. So I was forced to sue on his behalf.
Previously, Rana posted a banner in front of the FDC main gate and at various locations in Maghbazar claiming to be the director. When asked about this by the Bangladesh Film Directors Association, he introduced himself as associate director of director Shamimul Islam Shamim. Later, the board of directors sent a letter to Shamimul Islam Shamim informing him of the matter, but the director said that he did not know of any directors associated with the current name.
