Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called on the armed forces, including the army, to always be ready to face any internal or external threat.

The Prime Minister said, I don’t want war, I want peace, I want friendship.

But when it is attacked, you have to deal with it, that is the way we want to be prepared and that is the way we want to be prepared.

The Prime Minister said this while participating in the flag-raising ceremony of eight Army units / agencies in a video conference from Ganobhaban on Wednesday (October 26).

He said that to safeguard the sacred constitution and the sovereignty of the country, one must always be united and prepared to face any internal or external threat.

Our foreign policy is very clear. What the father of the nation has been through: friendship with everyone, not enmity with anyone. We don’t want to fight anyone. We want friendship with everyone. We want to develop Bangladesh socio-economically with this friendly relationship. But if they ever attack us, we want to be prepared so that we can gain the strength to deal with it, and that’s how we want to be prepared, “he said.

“I want to repeat it, we want peace, we want friendship, we don’t want enmity, we don’t want war,” he added. Because I have seen with my own eyes the horrible form of war. We also suffer. And we don’t want to get involved in that kind of conflict. We want to advance on the path of peace.

Highlighting the importance of professional excellence for members of the Army, the Prime Minister said that professionalism is the first requirement to work for the country as a member of the Army. And to reach the desired standard of professionalism, all of you must have professional skills, be motivated by social and religious values, and lead an honest and prosperous life.

The Bangladesh Army is a symbol of trust and security for the people of the country. This is how you have to move forward by gaining the trust of the people, said the Prime Minister.
