The party’s vice president, Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, responded to the show’s cause notice claiming that he was associated with the ‘change of government movement’ without abiding by the party’s decision.

He responded to the program with a press conference at his residence in Banani at 11am on Saturday.

At the beginning of the written response, Major Hafeez said: ‘I am a freedom fighter, war wounded and prizewinner. On Victory Day in Intellectuals Month, I was surprised to receive a show-cause notice with false accusations in disrespectful language. He has been involved in BNP politics for 29 years. The date of my incorporation, the date of appointment as vice president, many errors, including the spelling of my name, are visible in the letter signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He said: ‘Before joining BNP, I was elected Member of Parliament three times. I joined BNP in 1991 as an independent candidate. I have been one of the vice presidents of the party for the last 22 years. I feel very humiliated for summoning a deputy general secretary (even if he was not ordered) before the vice president of the party in such harsh and offensive language.

“There has been a deviation of protocol and courtesy. Person Ruhul Kabir Rizvi is an educated, devoted and selfless leader. I have a good relationship with him. I didn’t expect such a letter from him.

It has been rumored for some time that various political parties and some professional leaders, including the BNP, Jamaat, Unity Front and the Left, have come together to demand the fall of the government. Therefore, December 14 was chosen as the day.

At the last minute, Tarique Rahman gave a strong message to party leaders and workers not to participate in this program. However, Hafiz Uddin and Shawkat Mahmud joined the process without following the party’s decision. That is why they lamented. Hafiz Uddin was asked to respond to the cause of the show within 5 days and Shawkat Mahmud within 72 hours.

Last Wednesday night, Shawkat Mahmud’s personal assistant, Abdul Momin, delivered the answer to the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan.
