A human chain formed in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday protesting the murder of Anisul Karim, a former student of the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at Jahangirnagar University and Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Former and current students of Jahangirnagar University participated in the human chain. They have protested the murder of Anisul and demanded justice for the murder. They want the maximum punishment for the murderers at trial. The human chain demanded the immediate closure of all illegal hospitals and clinics in the country.
Speakers on the Human Network said they would continue their program until justice was served. If necessary, there will be a movement with students from all over the country.
Mehdi Hasan, former president of the Chhatra League of Jahangirnagar University, one of the organizers of the human chain, said: “We have filed a lawsuit for execution. There is no place to hide in the video footage of the murder. The way they killed him is disgusting. Illegal hospitals and clinics must be closed immediately.
Ashish Kumar Majumder, senator from Jahangirnagar University, said: “Anisul also needs an investigation into why he suffers from mental illness.”
Shihab, a former student lawyer at Jahangirnagar University, said they will be kept loud until the trial.
