Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has organized a sit-in in front of Nagar Bhaban to kill stray dogs. A memorandum was delivered to the mayor at noon on Wednesday (September 2). Previously, the DSCC decided to kill or transfer 30,000 stray dogs. Social organizations and dog lovers held a program on August 29 to protest the decision.
On the other hand, a memorandum has been issued demanding the extermination of the dogs. Currently there is an excess of stray dogs in the city of Dhaka. A group of 20 to 30 dogs has taken over several alleys. Which is very scary. The group of dogs attacked and bit the pedestrian when they saw him. Attacks on the faithful, especially at night or during morning prayers, are a daily occurrence.
He further said: “More recently, the mayor of DSCC has taken a very timely and compassionate step by announcing the killing or relocation of 30,000 stray dogs from Dhaka South City Corporation. However, we have seen some selfish non-governmental organizations (NGOs) oppose the mayor’s decision in the name of the love of animals. We strongly condemn and protest against such acts of the group.
Speakers on the human chain said: ‘Cities or towns are created for people to live, not for animals. Forests or sanctuaries are a safe haven for animals, so it is best to let them grow there safely. If animal lovers love dogs so much, they can have them at home. “
MD Ziaul Haque, the founder of the human chain, told the Bengali Tribune: ‘We are not in favor of killing dogs, we want to be free from the torture of dogs. Because of this, people are interrupted in their daily work. So let it be under control. ‘
