A woman has been raped while collecting blood for her ailing husband at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical University Hospital in the capital. RAB-2 has arrested the accused rapist and his accomplice. RAB-2 ASP Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed this information to the Bangla Tribune on Saturday (September 26).
He said: “According to the information provided by the victim, the rapist Monwar Hossain Sajib (43) and his accomplice Mashnu Ara Begum Shilpi (40) were arrested in a house in the Manipur area of the Mirpur police station around 8 pm September 25th. They have confessed to the rape. A case has been filed against him at the Mirpur Model Police Station.
On September 15, around 4 p.m., a woman admitted her husband to the medical department of Dhaka Suhrawardy Hospital. The doctor on duty said she needed blood for her husband. The doctor advised him to donate blood urgently. Following the doctor’s instructions, she went to the front of the blood bank on the second floor of Suhrawardy Hospital to collect blood. She saw 3/4 men sitting in front of the blood bank. She wants them to know about the blood (or +). One of the occupants assured the woman that she would donate blood. Her name is Monwar Hossain Sajib. Sajib took the woman to an apartment in a house called Shifa Villa in Manipur Para de Mirpur around 1.30 pm on September 18. There lives a woman named Mashnu Ara Begum Shilpi.
The woman complained to the RAB that Monwar Hossain Sajib threatened and raped her at the home of Mashnu Ara Begum Shilpi. Sajib also threatened to strangle the victim if he told someone and yelled.
The victim immediately kept the rape a secret for fear of public embarrassment and her husband’s illness. On September 24, around 6:30 pm, Sajib called the victim’s husband’s cell phone and asked him to send the woman to the second floor of Suhrawardy Hospital to obtain blood. The victim then told her husband about the rape for fear of being raped again.
The victim complained about this to the captain of the RAB-2. A RAB team arrested Monowar Hossain alias Sajeeb and Mashnu Ara Begum alias Shilpi after learning the initial truth of the incident.
The defendant Monowar Hossain alias Sajib said he had an extramarital affair with Mashnu Ara Begum alias Shilpi. Immoral activities take place in that house.
The home of the arrested Monwar Hossain alias Sajib is located at the Ramganj Police Station in Laxmipur. She currently lives in a house in Shawrapara. She went to Suhrawardy Hospital because her mother was ill. Mashnu Ara Begum Shilpi’s house is rented in Alfadanga in Faridpur, now in Shifa Villa in Central Manipur. A case in this regard has been registered at the Mirpur Model Police Station.
