Name Aminur Rahman Himu. The accusation against him is that he has embezzled millions of rupees by smuggling people into Brunei under the guise of a deputy. NSI and RAB arrested Himu, 55, along with two of Kafrul’s accomplices in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. The contributors are Md. Nur Alam (38) and Bablur Rahman (30). A search of Himu’s body during the arrest revealed a foreign pistol and a magazine full of bullets.
According to the RAB, the human smuggling ring has smuggled 400 people in Brunei. Himu has taken 33 crore rupees. 70 people paid to go to Brunei selling loans and land. But without getting any job there, she began her inhuman life. They are forced to return to the country on their own. It later emerged that in 2019, Himu had sent a bogus demand letter on behalf of the company of Mehdi Hasan Bijan, the main ringleader of human trafficking in Brunei, to Brunei. He does not have his own recruiting license, he smuggles people to Brunei using Nazrul International Service and Highway International RL.
RAB-3 Chief Lieutenant Colonel Rakibul Hasan told reporters yesterday afternoon that there are some 25,000 Bangladeshi workers in Brunei. Many of these workers go to the country through human trafficking and lead dehumanized lives. There are some 3,000 Bangladeshi-owned companies registered in Brunei, most of which are nominal. These companies fraudulently sell Brunei employment visas to Bangladesh through intermediaries. A 20 lakh lakh has been set for going to Brunei, but a worker has to go to Brunei at a cost of three to four lakh rupees.
Rakibul Hasan said that many victims of human trafficking in Brunei have complained to the RAB-3 office. Based on the allegations, Himu is known to be one of the main accomplices of Mehedi Hasan Bijan and Abdullah Al Mamun Apu. He had been out of the country for a long time.
Rakibul Hasan said that according to the law, a worker can stay in Brunei for up to two years. After two years of not being able to pay immigration costs, the workers are being smuggled into Malaysia through the neighboring province with 2,000 Brunei dollars through human trafficking without returning to Bangladesh. Currently, no visas are issued for Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia. Brunei is currently used as a route and destination for international human trafficking activities.
The RAB official said that the Bangladesh High Commissioner has requested the Interior Ministry to cancel the passports of seven people, including Bijan, for committing various crimes, including deception and torture of Bangladeshi workers abroad. Later, following the Interior Ministry’s decision, the Passport Department canceled the passports of seven people, including Bijan.
On September 10, victims of human trafficking in Brunei demonstrated in front of the National Press Club to demand Bijan’s arrest. There have been 20 cases in his name in the country and he is currently in hiding in the country.
