Hefazat leader Hasan Imam was arrested
Hefazat leader Hasan Imam, who was picketing on horseback, has been arrested in the remote Amtali of Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati in a sabotage case. Hasan became famous across the country by picketing on horseback during the Hifazat strike in Dhaka on March 26.
Hasan Imam, a member of Hefazat, was arrested at Nabuwat Jamiriah Madrasa in Kabirpur Mahilla Khatam in Amtali of Baghaichhari at 2.30am on Friday. Later in the morning, the RAB members went to Dhaka with him.
Baghaichhari OC Anwar Hossain Khan Police Station confirmed the arrest of Hefazat member Hasan Imam last night.
Hafez Nazmul Islam, the director of Nabuwat Jamiriyah at the end of Mahilla, said: “Two days ago one of my brothers sent him to visit from Dhaka. On Friday night, the RAB members suddenly grabbed him and took him away. I don’t know why or why they stopped him.
Baghaichhari Upazila Executive Director. Shariful Islam said the madrasa has no registration. Appropriate measures will soon be taken against the madrasa.
