Hefazat’s Acting Secretary General is a Jihadist, Dhaka’s Secretary is Mamunul

Nurul Islam Jihadi has been appointed Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam and Mamunul Haque as Secretary of the Dhaka Metropolis, which was vacated after the death of Nur Hossain Qasemi.

A statement by Hefazat-e-Islam sent to the media on Saturday night (December 26) said that the party had announced a 201-member committee.

The decision to appoint a new secretary general, increase the size of the committee and form the metropolitan committees of Dhaka and Chittagong was made on December 23.

Azizul Haque Islamabadi, central organizing secretary of Hifazat-e-Islam, told the media on Saturday that Nurul Islam Jihadi was nominated as acting secretary general at a special meeting in Hatahazari Madrasa on December 23 in the presence of top leaders, including the Amir and Hifazat’s chief adviser.

Hours earlier, at a press conference at the Chittagong Press Club under the banner ‘Hifazat-e-Islam’, it was alleged that Plaintiff Shafi’s brother-in-law, Moin Uddin, and members of Shafi’s family were being threatened with death. for bringing a case against former Amir Shah Ahmed Shafi for ‘murder’.

Nur Hossain Qasemi, 65, who was appointed general secretary at the November 15 conference, died on December 13 while in treatment. He was president of the Dhaka Metropolitan Branch of Hefazat-e-Islam from its inception.

Nurul Islam Jihadi, who became acting secretary general, was appointed central emir naib of the new Hefazat committee announced on November 15. He is the director of the Jamia Islamia Makhjanul Uloom Madrasa in Khilgaon, Dhaka and a member of the highest Hathazari Madrasa forum.

Nurul Islam is known as a follower of jihadist custody Amir Junaid Babungari. He has been seen fronting several shows, including the recent siege of the French embassy.

With the death of Nur Hossain Qasemi, the post of Chairman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee of Hefazat also became vacant. Maulana Junaid Al Habib, Hifazat’s deputy general secretary, has been appointed chair of the committee. Another deputy general secretary, Mamunul Haque, has been appointed as secretary.

Recently, Mamunul spoke out against the installation of the Bangabandhu sculpture. After that, he was supposed to participate in a mahfil at Hathazari in Chittagong, but Mamunul did not participate in the mahfil in the face of resistance from the Chittagong City Juba League and the Chhatra League.

Ahmed Shafi’s brother-in-law, Moin Uddin, alleged in a press conference on Saturday that Mamunul’s followers had attacked Shafi’s youngest son, Anas Madani, at the Faridabad Madrasa in Dhaka on the day of Shah Ahmed Shafi’s death. Mamunul Haque has also been charged in the murder case related to Shafi’s death.

Meanwhile, Maulana Tajul Islam obtained the position of president and Maulana Lokman Hakim obtained the position of secretary.

Hefazat’s top adviser, Muhibullah Babungari, Junaid Babungari’s uncle, chaired the meeting on December 23.

According to a press release issued by Hefazat-e-Islam, the meeting was attended by Advisor Noman Faizi, Central Naib Amir Tajul Islam, Muhammad Yahya, Jasim Uddin, Deputy Secretary General Junaid Al Habib, Mamunul Haque, Organizing Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi, Finance Secretary Munir Hossain Qasemi, Advertising Secretary.
