Hefazat activist Hasan Imam, who was picketing on horseback, has been arrested in Baghaichhari in Rangamati in a sabotage case. Members of the RAB and the police participated in the operation led by RAB Lieutenant Commander Golam Mirza. Hasan was arrested at Nabuwat Zamiriyah Madrasa in Baghaichhari Amtali Kabirpur Mahilla Khatam around 2.30pm on Friday.
Baghaichhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Anwar Hossain Khan confirmed the arrest of Hefazat member Hasan Imam on Saturday.
Hafez Nazmul Islam, director of Nabuwat Jamiriyah at the end of the mahilla, said: “One of my brothers sent him from Dhaka to visit him two days ago. Radhab took him suddenly on Friday night. I don’t know why or why they stopped him.
Baghaichhari Upazila, executive officer (UN), said. Shariful Islam said: ‘The madrasa has no registration. Appropriate measures will soon be taken against the madrasa.
It is worth mentioning that the arrested Hasan Imam was riding a horse and carrying a flag during the Hifazat-e-Islam strike in Dhaka on March 26. He is accused of setting fire to and destroying several vehicles. He was hiding in Amtali Madrasa in Baghaichhari.
