Hefazat will not be able to go on strike: Minister of the Interior

Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the issue of custody violence in Dhaka, Chittagong and Brahmanbaria was being investigated. No strikes will be allowed. He made the remarks after announcing a Hefazat-e-Islam strike on Friday (March 26) evening.

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh held a press conference on Friday night regarding the attacks and deaths of anti-Modi protesters in Dhaka, Chittagong and Brahmanbaria. From there, they announced nationwide protests on Saturday (March 26) and a strike on Sunday (March 28).

The capital Dhaka, Chittagong and Brahmanbaria are full of protests against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting Bangladesh to attend the Golden Jubilee of Independence celebrations. Police confronted a section of worshipers in front of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at noon on Friday (March 26). At least 20 people, including journalists, were injured.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) has been deployed across the country, including the capital Dhaka. On Friday (March 26) evening, BGB Public Relations Officer BGB Spokesperson Director (Operations) Lt. Colonel Faizur Rahman confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said VVIPs are now stationed in the country. Many Islamist parties have started an anti-Modi movement today. The BGB has been deployed throughout the country to keep the law and order situation in the country normal.
