The Hefazat-e-Islam protest procession on the roof of Sunamganj attacked the police. Policemen Rakib, Saiful Dilshad, Subal and Rabiul were injured in the incident. Among them, Rakib suffered serious leg injuries.
According to the Chhatak police, Hefazat activists and supporters marched in support of Mamunul Haque in the road area of the city’s bus station starting at 8pm on Saturday (April 3). Procession to the city of fanatics who attacked the police service.
A doctor from the emergency department of the Chhatak Upazila Health Complex said, on condition of anonymity, that five policemen were injured in the incident. Among the injured, police officer Rakib was seriously injured.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Chhatak Police Station, Sheikh Nazim Uddin, said protesters attacked and injured five policemen. They also threw bricks at the police station building while crossing the Surma River at the end of the procession. Police fired 40 rounds of tear gas to control the situation.
The attack damaged the roundabout of the police station building. Police arrested six people in the incident. There are more police deployed in the city of Chhatak. Hefazat supporters also marched in Jawaabazar and Dirai in Chhatak.
