Ignoring opposition from a group of claimants who follow Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, the Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Central Representatives Conference will be held at Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari, Chittagong on Sunday. The organization’s leaders said that all preparations for the conference have been completed, which aims to form new leadership after 10 long years of establishment. Opposition groups called for the resignation of the accused prime minister.

According to sources, the current general secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, Maulana Junaid Babungari, will hold the delegates conference today. Hefazat leaders from the plant and from across the country have been invited. Many leaders who were invited to attend the conference on Saturday evening attended the Hathazari Madrasa. The new emir and general secretary will be chosen based on the opinion of the shura committee at the conference, organizers said.

Meanwhile, a pro-Allama Shafi claimant has called today’s conference a “conspiracy.” At the delegates conference, the party announced that it would not accept the formation of the committee to the exclusion of the mainstream of the organization.

However, organizers said the conference will take place today as usual. They say opponents of the conference are already known to be controversial. Your threat won’t work. They are raising several unfounded allegations that they were withdrawn from the conference.

In this regard, Maulana Azizul Haque Islamabadi, Hifazat’s central organizing secretary, said: “Hifazat is an apolitical organization and a deep conspiracy is taking place to disrupt the Hifazat conference. I can say with defiance, Jamaat-BNP has no relation to Hefazat. And there is no communication or alliance with any political party to form this committee.

Several senior Hifazat leaders said that the appointment of Maulana Junaid Babungari as the new Emir of Hifazat is very secure. However, the name of Allama Noor Hossain Qasemi has been heard for so long as Secretary General, but at the last moment it has stalled. Top leaders have been liquidating various accounts for the position for two days.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the conference, yesterday Hefazat’s secretary general, Junaid Babungari, exchanged views with dignitaries and administration officials at the madrasah. Present on the occasion were local deputy lawyer Anisul Islam Mahmud, the chairman of the district council and chairman of the Awami league of the northern district MA Salam, the additional police superintendent of the Hathazari Circle, Abdullah Al Masum, and others.

General Secretary Junaid Babungari took command of the organization after the death of Amir Allama Shafi of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh on September 16. He also claimed to soon form a new committee through the council. As part of this, the Central Representatives Conference has been organized on Sunday after various processes. A 16-member committee headed by Junaid Babungari worked to implement the conference.

By the way, on January 19, 2010, Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, the then CEO of Hathazari Madrasa, formed Hefazat-e-Islam, a non-political organization affiliated with Qawmi Madrasa. Maulana Junaid Babungari, a high-ranking muhaddith from Hathazari Madrasa, was appointed general secretary. The organization became popular at home and abroad by staging a long march to Dhaka on April 6, 2013 and then on May 5 at Shapla Chattar in the capital with demands of 13 points.
