After Friday prayers, the faithful clashed with activists from the Chhatra League, the Juba League and the Swechchhasebak League at the premises of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Clashes broke out when worshipers began to protest against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shortly after the prayers on Friday (March 26), a persecution broke out between them at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram.
Several people, including media personnel, were injured. The conflict is spreading even further. The faithful throw bricks from inside the mosque. The leaders and activists of the Chhatra League and the Juba League are retaliating by throwing bricks and stones into the mosque from outside. Instead, the police are spraying rubber bullets, sound grenades and tear gas projectiles to control the situation.
Hefazat activists chanted slogans like ‘Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar’. On the other hand, the leaders and activists of the Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League chant slogans like ‘Joy Bangla’.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Bangladesh to attend the centenary of the birth of the nation’s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Independence. Extensive security measures were taken in the Baitul Mukarram area of the capital to prevent any adverse incidents or chaos with the arrival of the Indian Prime Minister in the country.
