Opposition terrorists shot dead two people in Rangamati’s Kaptai. The incident took place in the Gorjnia area of the Wagga union of the Upazila around 3pm last night.
The deceased were identified as Subhash Tanchangya, 45, and Dhananjay Tanchangya, 32.
Said the Kaptai Police Officer in Charge (OC). Nasiruddin said that an unidentified group of armed terrorists arrived at Dhananjay Chakma’s home around 3 pm on Tuesday (November 10). They woke up Dhananjay and Subhash and shot them. They were killed on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Dhananjay, son of Ranjit Karbari from the Gorjonia area and Subhash’s home is in Rajsthali upazila. He is the son of the late Kalachan Tanchangya from Chhakhyang Village. Subhash and his family lived in the Kanthaltali area of the Wagga Union. He was at Dhananjay’s home at the time of the incident.
Citing locals, the police officer said the two killed were members of Jana Sanghati Samiti, a regional party in the hills. The attackers are also activists and opponents of another regional party.
Additional Police Superintendent Junaid Kausar of Kaptai Circle said police would retrieve the body from the scene and send it in for an autopsy. Initially, two bullet marks were found on Subhash’s body and five on Dhananjay’s body.
However, it was not possible to verify the information by contacting the regional teams in the hills. As a result, it could not be determined whether the two dead were members of any Jana Sanghati Samiti group or any other group.
