Five young Muslims have been arrested for giving Hindu names on a photocopy of a national identity card for cheating to go to the Ras Purnima cult and holy bath at Dublarchar in the Sharankhola mountain range of Sundarbans in the Bay of Bengal.
On Sunday afternoon (November 29), rangers from the Noliar Forest Office in western Sundarbans arrested the five scammers. They were sent to jail through court the night after the case.
According to the forest department, Jalil Mia, Kawsar’s son from the same area, went to the village of Sahas Kumarghat in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila to obtain a permit to go to the holy toilet with a photocopy of his national identity card.
Similarly, Jewel Sardar, son of Matiar Rahman, went to the village of Dumuria upazila in Senpara-Kalikapur to obtain a permit of passage with a photocopy of Emon Mandal’s national identity card. In addition, Bellal Hossain, son of Mokhles Kawsar, presented a photocopy of Ratan Mandal’s national identity card from Sahas Kumarghat village in the same upazila.
At the same time, Yasin from the village of Charabanda in Khulna’s upazila Dumuria presented a photocopy of her national identity card. Ikramul Karim, son of Zahurul Hossain from the same area, presented to the forestry office a photocopy of the birth record of Jewel Sarkar from Shibnagar village in Dumuria upazila.
They have cheated by becoming Muslim and pretending to be Hindus. They were caught cheating while going to the Election Commission online and checking with the NID number. Later, the forest department arrested them.
The West Sundarbans Divisional Forestry Officer (DFO) said. Mohsin Hossain from Abu Naser said that due to the crown, this time the forest department prohibited anyone other than the people of the Hindu community from going to Ras Purnima worship and holy bath in Dublarchar.
For this, the forest department granted a pass-permit after seeing the photocopy of the national identity card to go to the puja and sacred bath of Ras Purnima. On Sunday, Naliya forest bureau officials and rangers arrested five Muslim youths for hiding their religious identity and cheating to go to the puja and holy bath of Hindu sage Ras Purnima. Later, they were sent to jail through court with a case on their behalf.
