The police have brought a case against Maulana Mamunul Haque, secretary general of the Khilafah Majlis and leader of Hefazat, for allegedly speaking secretly at the Islamic Conference in Chandina, Comilla. 7 people, including Mamunul Haque, have been charged in the case. The case was presented at the Chandina police station on December 16. This information has been confirmed on Saturday.

However, Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, president of the Bangladesh Alliance of Islamic Unity, made the announcement at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday (December 26). According to a national newspaper, Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, who was the main guest of the meeting, told a press conference on Saturday that he left for Dhaka at 11 pm after finishing his speech as the main guest. Upon reaching Dhaka, he learned that Maulana Mamunul Haque had also been there at the last moment. At the end of the main ceremony, he also gave a speech at the request of the followers. A complaint has been filed against Maulana Mamunul on behalf of the organizers for participating in the program with concealment of information.

Chandina Police Station OC Samsuddin Mohammad Ilias told the Bengali Tribune that the government had banned public gatherings due to the Corona epidemic. The defendants have organized a meeting leaking information to the administration. The poster and banner for the meeting did not have the name of Maulana Mamunul Haque, the general secretary of Khilafah Majlis. However, with the collusion of the organizers, Mamunul Haque attended the meeting and gave speeches such as anti-state propaganda, provocation and propaganda spread among the people. As a result, a case has been brought against Mosharraf Hossain Mahmud, the organizer of the mahfil on December 16, and Mamunul Haque, the leader of Hifazat, as the second defendant. Maulana Khaled Saifullah Ayubi has also been charged in the case.
He said organizers had deliberately kept Maulana Mamunul Haque’s arrival a secret on the second day of the two-day Islamic Conference in the Joag Paschimpara area, under the Chandina police station in Comilla. However, they created a riotous atmosphere by summoning Mamunul Haque to address the meeting.
The accused could not be reached in this regard.
