Iran’s Army Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bakeri has warned that Tehran will take “severe revenge” for the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a prominent Iranian physicist and chairman of the Defense Ministry’s Research and Innovation Agency. Iranian media Perse Today and Anadolu Agency news agency reported.
Iran’s army chief announced in a message late Friday that “terrorists” linked to Israel had killed an Iranian scientist.
Referring to Fakhrizadeh as one of the top managers in Iran’s defense sector, General Bakeri said that Fakhrizadeh had made a significant contribution to bringing Iran’s defense capabilities to the current level.

Describing Fakhrizad’s death as a major blow to Iran’s defense industry, the Iranian military chief said that the enemy must know that the path taken by Fakhrizad must never be blocked.
Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was killed in a terrorist attack on Friday night.
Armed terrorists attacked a vehicle carrying Fakhrizadeh on a road in the town of Absard in Damavand county, near Tehran, on Friday night, the mass communications department of the Iranian Defense Ministry said.
At that moment, the terrorists collided with the bodyguards of the Iranian physicist and Mohsen Fakhrizad was seriously injured. He died in the hospital.
