The Awami League’s deputy general secretary, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, has said that those involved in the gang rape of a girl at MC College in Sylhet must receive “direct crossfire”.
He made the remarks at a discussion and prayer mahfil in the auditorium of the Dhaka Engineers Institution on Tuesday.
Hanif said that what happened at MC College is very sad, shameful and reprehensible. One of our sisters was brutally tortured. I don’t want to be part of any group of rapists. There is a lot of confusion about it, some say the current Chhatra League, some say Chhatra Dal. Whichever party they belong to, this incident is highly reprehensible.
The deputy general secretary of the Awami League said: “If I had had the opportunity, I would have asked them to cross fire without being in the dock. Although we are against crossfire, against indiscriminate killing. Even then I mean, those who commit such brutal torture are animals. They do not fall into the category of human beings. These animals must receive direct crossfire without being outside of unreasonable judgment.
President of the IEB. Nurul Huda also spoke at the chairmanship of the Awami League Science and Technology Engineering Secretariat. Abdus Sabur, IEB Nuruzzaman Vice President, Khandaker Manzur Morshed, Mohammad Hossain, HM Manjurul Haque Monju, Secretary General Shahadat Hossain (Shiblu) and Deputy Secretary General. Ronak Ahsan.
