Late at night, the older sister’s ex-husband attacked the house. Shortly after her departure, her sister and mother saw the hanging body of 24-year-old Ulfat Ara Tinni, a deserving student at the Islamic University.

The incident took place in the village of Sheikhpara in Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa upazila on Friday. Tinni is the youngest daughter of the late freedom fighter Yusuf Ali from the village of Sheikhpara in Shailkupa upazila. She was a meritorious student in the Accounting Department of the Islamic University.

The family alleges that Tinni was killed after being brutally tortured. Shailkupa police arrested four people in the incident.

Tinni’s cousin Mukhlesur Rahman said that Tinni’s older sister, Minni, was married to Jamirul, a businessman from Sheikhpara Bazar, Nuruddin’s son from the same village. Minni and Jamirul later divorced because they did not marry; But Jamirul was desperate to get Minni back.

For a long time, Babahara had been harassing his two sisters on various occasions. The manless family somehow became helpless. At around 10pm on Thursday, Jamirul attacked Tinni’s house with people, smashed it, and returned.

After a two-hour break, Jamirul returned to the house around midnight and tortured Tinni. Just 10 minutes after Jamirul left, her mother and sister saw Tinni’s hanging body wrapped in a veil with a fan.

Older sister Minni claims that her younger sister was deliberately killed.

Tinni’s mother, Halima Begum, said, “My daughter was very talented.” She was preparing for the BCS exam. On the night of the incident, Jamirul threatened her as he was returning home from Kushtia after his girlfriend’s wedding. Then Jamirul came home at night and attacked and smashed.

He claimed that Tinni was killed after he had been brutally tortured.

According to local sources, the family was tortured at different times in the shadow of an influential mahal in the Jamirul area. No one dares open their mouths against him. Tinni had been protesting against these activities of Jamirul.

Shailkupa Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mohsin Ali said his relatives took him to Kushtia Medical College Hospital at night. An autopsy was performed at the hospital. His body was buried in the town cemetery at night.
So far, four people have been arrested in the incident. However, their names will not be released. The police inspector also said that preparations are under way to present a case at the police station.
