A foreign lover has mysteriously died in Kalihati, Tangail.
Police recovered their bodies hanging from the same rope in the village of Paltanpara in Rajafair upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Shahjahan, 41, and Aleya, 39. They were both married. Shahjahan is the father of two children. And Aleya lived with her husband in her father’s house.
According to the locals, the two fell in love as if they were at home. They fled the house a month and a half ago. Last Wednesday, Shahjahan took Aleya home.
When the matter came to light, two locals named Azmat and Qasim organized an arbitration meeting on Thursday night.
Delwar Hossain, the father of the late Aleyar, told Jugantar that Shahjahan fled with my daughter a month and a half ago. When they returned home last Wednesday, Shahjahan’s in-laws severely beat them.
Shahjahan’s brother-in-law’s son, Yaqub Ali, Shipon, Khaleq’s daughter, Mim, Habibur’s wife, Jharna, Shahjahan’s brother-in-law, Yarjan, Azmat and Kashem were involved in this.
Later on Friday morning, their hanging bodies were found in Aleyar’s father’s barn.
However, it is still unclear if Shahjahan and Aleya committed suicide or were killed and their bodies hanged.
The Kalihati OC Sawgatul Alam Police Station told Jugantar that the two were in an extramarital affair. Their bodies were found hanging this morning and sent to the Tangail morgue for autopsy. Necessary steps will be taken subject to investigation.
