But restrictions on the free movement of foreign workers, mainly in the construction sector and in various manufacturing plants, are no longer being lifted. So they have to wait until next year.
Most of the foreign workers in Singapore are from South Asian countries. Alex Au, vice president of TWC2, told the BBC: “Singapore is doing something very wrong by treating foreign workers as prisoners. Many have been trapped for about eight months.”
According to the BBC, two types of tests have been carried out on foreign workers in Singapore since last August. One is the common coronavirus PCR test. Through which it has been possible to check if the person is currently infected by coronavirus. Another is the antibody test. Through which it has been seen if the person has been infected with Kovid-19 before.
Approximately 54,000 workers have been identified as Covid-19 in the PCR test. The Singapore government has already released this information. And antibody tests showed that some 98,000 workers were infected. This number was published on Monday.
Singapore’s health minister said all workers in the country have been screened at least once since August. Some people have had both types of tests.
All those whose results were “positive” and those who had previously been found infected were excluded. The country’s Health Ministry said they have been provided with all kinds of medical services and other facilities.
The total number of workers is approximately one lakh 52 thousand. About 323,000 workers live in Unana’s dormitories in the country. About 75,000 of them still have antibody test results. In other words, the number of victims will increase.

He added that if the rate of truly active infections is now nearly zero and workers are tested for Covid-19 every two weeks, there is “no need” to impose such restrictions on them.
