Evidence of fraud in weight and quantity was found when raiding various gas stations in the capital. According to the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), less than half a liter is administered in 10 liters of octane. BSTI has presented cases and fined two companies in the operation.
The lawsuits were filed Thursday (Dec. 10) during raids in the Bailey Road, Mouchak and New Market areas of the city. During the operation, a fine of Taka 60,000 was imposed in two cases. This information was given in a press release sent by BSTI.
According to the notification, a mobile court in the New Market area of the capital imposed a fine of 50,000 taka for supplying 510 ml and 260 ml for 10 liters of octane, 360 ml of diesel and 340 ml of gasoline for less than 10 liters of octane. The same mobile court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the underground storage tank at Messrs. Path’s service station in Nilkhet.
BSTI Executive Magistrate Begum Rashida Akhter led BSTI’s Inspector operation. Inzamamul Haque and Md. Nazmus Sayadat participated. BSTI Deputy Director Mohammad Liaquat Hossain and Senior Examiner Md. Rakibul Alam led the inspector. Billal Hossain, Md. Al Hasnat and Md. Nazmus Sayadat participated.
