Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told reporters that the ACC has appointed him to handle the case. Today (Monday) I have requested (mentioned) the court to hear the case. Now the agenda will have an audience.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Haji Selim at the Lalbagh Police Station on October 24, 2008 on charges of illegal acquisition of assets. In this case, the Court of First Instance sentenced him to 13 years in prison on April 26, 2006. Haji Selim appealed the verdict to the Superior Court on October 25, 2009. On January 2, 2011, the Superior Court acquitted to Haji Selim. The ACC appealed the verdict to the Appeals Division. The Appeals Division, in an order of January 12, 2015, overturned the Superior Court judgment and again conducted a Superior Court hearing.

But so far neither party has taken the initiative to hear the appeal. Haji Selim’s son, Irfan Selim, was arrested in connection with the recent beating of a naval officer. After that, the question arose about the role of the ACC in the Haji Selim case. In this situation, the ACC took the initiative to hear Haji Selim’s appeal.
