GK Shamim’s Secret Bail, Deputy Attorney General Subpoenaed to ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has subpoenaed the Deputy Attorney General of the Supreme Court, Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa, accused of collusion with Ghulam Kibria Shamim, aka GK Shamim, a well-known contractor arrested in connection with the casino scandal, and of obtaining bail through a bribery transaction.

Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa has been cited in a notice signed by ACC Deputy Director and Investigative Officer Mohammad Ibrahim on Wednesday.

According to the notice, the Deputy Attorney General of the Supreme Court, Jannatul Ferdousi Rupar, has been accused of accepting bribes through various irregularities, corruption, abuse of power and forgery, collusion with several defendants, including GK Shamim, and embezzlement of huge amounts of money.

The notice addressed to Jannatul Ferdousi Rupar said: “For the sake of a proper investigation, your statement on the stated allegations must be heard and accepted.” For this, it has been requested to appear in the office of the lower signatory together with the records / papers on November 4 at 10 am. If you do not show up on the scheduled date and time and do not make a statement, you will be deemed to have no statement about the complaint.

Previously, the High Court granted HM Golam Kibria Shamim a provisional bond in two cases on February 4 and 6. A bail order was issued on February 12. After the publication of the issue, there was much discussion and criticism. Later, GK Shamim’s bail was canceled.

Incidentally, the RAB arrested the contractor GK Shamim on September 17 last year, two days after the start of the anti-casino operation in Dhaka. On September 20 of that year, a large quantity of drugs and money was recovered from his own office at Niketan in the capital. There is also a case against GK Shamim, who was expelled from the Juba League on corruption charges. The Anti-Corruption Commission filed a case against him on October 21 of last year.
