Pakistan has granted Gilgit-Baltistan a temporary status. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Imran Khan ahead of the 73rd National Day for the region.

On Sunday afternoon, Imran Khan announced that Gilgit-Baltistan would be granted temporary province status. He said the decision was made in accordance with the rules of the UN Security Council. News Geo News Urdu and Deutsche Welle.

On this day, Imran Khan visited Gilgit-Baltistan and laid the foundation stone for various projects such as thermal power stations and river dams. However, India has strongly opposed the decision to turn the region into a temporary province.

Anurag Srivastava, spokesman for the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “India strongly rejects the Pakistani government’s attempt to change the character of the illegal and forcibly occupied part of Indian territory.”

During the partition of the country in 1947, there was a war between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. Although the war was stopped due to the intervention of the international community, part of Kashmir and Ladakh remained in the hands of Pakistan and the other part in the hands of India.

The two countries have since been at odds over the Gilgit-Baltistan region, which borders Kashmir and Ladakh.

India claims that Pakistan has illegally occupied the area. In fact, the area belongs to India. But Pakistan never accepted it.
