Two defendants detained in prison after seven days of preventive detention
Ghoraghat officer Upazila Nirbahi from Dinajpur, Wahida Khanam, and his father, freedom fighter Omar Ali Sheikh, were removed from the Ghoraghat police station on Friday, seven days after the attack.
Meanwhile, the defendants Nabirul Islam and Santu Kumar Das were taken into custody on Friday afternoon after a seven-day pre-trial detention.
Dinajpur Police Superintendent Mohammad Anwar Hossain said that the Ghoraghat OC Amirul Islam Police Station was removed and taken to the Dinajpur Police Line on Friday. Rangpur Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Azimuddin has taken over the new CO.
He said that the Ghoraghat OC Amirul Islam police station did not withdraw in the wake of the attack on the UN by Wahida Khanam and her father. OC Amirul Islam’s withdrawal has nothing to do with the attack. He has been removed from Ghoraghat Police Station according to normal work rules.
Meanwhile, the defendants Nabirul Islam and Santu Kumar Das, who were arrested in connection with the attack on the UN Waheeda Khanam and his father Omar Ali Sheikh, were handed over to the court of Dinajpur’s highest judicial magistrate, Ismail Hossain, at the 3:15 pm on Friday. At the end of the preventive detention, they did not make any confessional statement or request a new preventive detention.

Sheikh Farid Uddin, the older brother of UNO Wahida Khanam, filed a case with the Ghoraghat Police Station on Thursday night.
The case has already been transferred from the Ghoraghat Police Station to the Dinajpur DB Police and OC Imam Zafar of the Dinajpur DB Police has been appointed as investigating officer.
