Habiganj: Four people, including Nazmul Islam Kajal, chairman of Jessore’s Bagharpara Upazila Parishad, were killed when a Pajero jeep collided with a truck in Habiganj’s Madhabpur upazila.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Noapara in upazila on Monday (September 6) afternoon.
Three of the dead have been identified. They are the chairman of Bagharpara Upazila Parishad, Nazmul Islam Kajal, Ariful Islam from Karimpur village in Bagharpara Upazila and Akhi Akter, 22, daughter of Sumon Miah from Taltola area in Dhaka.
The Madhabpur Police Officer in Charge (OC) said. Iqbal Hossain told banglanews this information.
The OC said that a Pajero jeep heading from Dhaka to Sylhet collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the Noapara area of the upazila. Two of the four people in the jeep were killed instantly. Two more died after being taken to hospital.
He added that among the dead are Nazmul Islam Kajal, president of Bagharpara Upazila Parishad de Jessore, and his manager.
Jessore’s Bagharpara Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Tania Afroz told banglanews there were four people in the car, including Upazila Parishad President Kajal. Her mobile phone was also found after the accident.
