Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her deep sorrow over the death of Shawkat Ali.
This information was provided in the notification sent by the press wing of the Prime Minister’s Office. In his message of condolence, Sheikh Hasina reverently recalled the historical incidents of making Shawkat Ali the 27th defendant in the Agartala conspiracy case and his imprisonment together with the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib.
Sheikh Hasina said that the nation will always remember Shawkat Ali’s contribution to Bangladesh’s fight for freedom, the great liberation war and the strengthening of parliamentary democracy. The country lost a former public leader, I lost a loyal colleague of the Bangabandhu ideology.
The Prime Minister prayed for the forgiveness of the late soul of the late Shawkat Ali and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
Jatiya Sangsad (Public Relations) Director Tariq Mahmud said in a statement that Shawkat Ali was the founding chairman of Muktijoddha Samhati Parishad and the senior advisor to the 71 Foundation. He said that Janazah will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Maghreb prayers on Monday. Earlier, his body will be buried at the National Shaheed Minar at 3pm. His body will be brought to Naria in the Shariatpur district by an armed forces helicopter at 10 am on Tuesday. There, people from all walks of life will rest at the Naria Shaheed Minar. After Janazah at Naria BL High School after Johar, the heroic freedom fighter will be buried at his home in Swadhinata Bhaban in Naria, Shariatpur.
