The country’s renowned medical expert, former Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Prof. Dr. Maryland. Tahir is dead.

He died of a heart attack at Labaid Hospital in the capital at 8 am on Monday (October 26) (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Raziun).

He was 90 years old at the time of his death.

BSMMU’s public relations officer, Prashant Kumar Majumder, confirmed his death.

The Vice Chancellor of BSMMU, Prof. Dr. Tahir, expressed his grief at the death. Kanak Kanti Barua.

In his message of condolence, he said that the medical community lost a guardian in his death. He has played an important role in the development of medicine, science and research at BSMMU.

He conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

Professor Tahir will be buried in his ancestral cemetery at Gowainghat in Sylhet.
