He died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka at 2.25 p.m. Sunday, his cousin said. Md. Habibullah Talukder told reporters.

He told reporters in Jamalpur that Anwarul Kabir Talukder had contracted the coronavirus.

Jamalpur District BNP President Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim, the younger brother of the deceased, said his brother was admitted to CMH with a fever a few days ago.

Anwarul Kabir Talukder, nephew of former BNP Secretary General Barrister Abdus Salam Talukder, was nominated by BNP in 2001 and was elected Member of Parliament for the Jamalpur-4 Sarishabari constituency.

Initially he was the minister of state for finance and planning in the coalition government led by BNP and later the minister of state for energy, energy and mineral resources.

Later, Anwarul Kabir Talukder left the BNP and joined the PLD. He was recently inactive from politics.

He was 6 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, three sons, and a daughter.
