Former Prime Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi has migrated to the land of no return. Although he recovered from the coronavirus infection a couple of months ago, he suffered from various physical complications.

He finally died yesterday afternoon on Monday. Assam’s Health Minister Himanta Bishwasharma said the veteran congressional leader’s physical condition began to deteriorate Sunday afternoon.

Gogoi, 6, has served as Prime Minister of Assam three times. He was also a minister in the Central Government of India.

He was diagnosed with coronavirus on August 25 of this year. The next day, he was admitted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

After two months of treatment, he returned home on October 25. He was admitted to the hospital again on November 2. When several limbs were rendered useless, they placed him on a ventilation bracket.

Gogoi has been elected deputy for Assam six times. He has served as Chief Minister for 15 years. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ramnath Kobind, among others, mourned his death.

The Assam state government will observe three days of mourning on Tuesday for the death of the young Gogoi. His last rites will take place on November 26.
