Mehbooba Mufti, a former prime minister of Kashmir and chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was finally released after being under house arrest. He was reportedly released at around 10:15 pm on Tuesday (October 13).

Mehbooba also tweeted an audio message after his release. “They released me more than a year later,” he said. Black days have passed in Kashmir since August 4, 2019, constantly insulting my soul. I think the people of Jammu and Kashmir think the same. I will never forget the humiliation we suffered that day. ‘ On August 5, 2019, Article 370 was abolished in Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh became two Union territories.
After his release, Mehbooba said: “We must remember that the Delhi court has taken away our rights in an illegal and undemocratic way. Thousands of people have lost their lives in the Kashmir issue. We must continue our fight. The prisoners of Kashmir must be released immediately.
Earlier, Farooq Abdullah was released after a lengthy detention. His son and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has been released. Even then, Mehbooba was not released. His daughter filed a case in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court wants to know in the context of that case, and how long will Mehbuba be detained? The Supreme Court had to hold Jammu and Kashmir and the central government accountable. He was released earlier.
